Your application

We recommend that you have some experience in mainstream UK schools before applying. Whilst not compulsory, this will give you a flavour for your potential future career, and help you write your application.

We are looking for candidates with the following qualities:

  • A passion for working with young people across the primary phase and curriculum
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn
  • Self-awareness and resilience
  • A sense of humour!

We recommend including the following in your application:

  • Why you want to become a teacher
  • Any teaching experience or general experience in schools
  • Other work with young people
  • The skills and abilities you can bring to teaching
  • Details about your subject knowledge

What happens once I have applied?

Applications are processed initially by Coventry and Central Warwickshire Teaching School Hub and the University of Warwick.

Please check your emails regularly, as invitations for interview will be sent via email.

  • Interviews are usually held at the school which you have applied to.
  • Typically, the selection process will last approximately half a day, during which you will attend an interview, conduct a short teaching task, complete a brief numeracy and literacy test, meet members of the department or school team you will be working with and tour the school. For Secondary applicants there may also be a discussion or task relating to your chosen subject.
  • If you are successful at interview, you will be informed by APPLY and by us directly.
